Meet a Gardener: Kitchen Garden
Format: Drop-In Discussion
Venue: The Huntington, Kitchen Garden, San Marino, California
Program Evaluation: Meet a Gardener: Kitchen Garden
As the Evaluation Manager, I had the opportunity to assess the "Meet a Gardener: Kitchen Garden" program, co-created by Aaron Spoto and Andrew Shewell. This event featured our expert gardeners hosting informal drop-in sessions aimed at educating attendees on various gardening techniques and practices.
Garden Experience:
Held in the Kitchen Garden, attendees engaged in lively discussions focused on practical topics such as pollinators, pest management, and general gardening tips. The sessions were enriched with hands-on activities for children, including arts and crafts, and guided garden tours that showcased the unique elements of the Kitchen Garden.
Session Structure:
Each session consisted of a 20-minute presentation followed by a 20-minute Q&A, offered multiple times throughout the day. This format fostered direct interaction between visitors and our gardeners, allowing attendees to ask questions, share their gardening experiences, and receive personalized advice. The program attracted a diverse audience, including families, couples, and seniors, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
